Burstarse Falls Hike on Saturday May 1

Few folks know about Burstarse Falls, a mighty waterfall that free falls some 40 feet over granite walls. In addition to solitude, this hike also offers extensive views of Castle Crags’ steep granite spires and clear, cold streams.

Come join us for this moderate 6.4 mile hike which includes 2.5 miles on the impressive Pacific Crest Trail.

Meet at the Fish Hatchery at the end of Lake Street in Mount Shasta at 9 am. Bring lunch and water.

Further questions: call hike leader Joan Roemer 926-0647.

  1. Joe came home from yesterday’s hike simply elated!!! He estimated 30 participants trekked to Burstarse Falls, which he described as “sparkling and extraordinary.” The Trail Association is fortunate to have leaders like Joan and Barry, whose volunteer efforts create opportunities for others to explore and enjoy our trails.
And by the way, I loved the “Joan’s Secret Waterfall Hike” angle for the next hike.
Ah-h-h the mystery and anticipation of actually seeing something cataloged as “a secret spot” in Joan Roemer’s mind, makes showing up on May 8 an absoulte must.

We’ll have a post in the next day or two with all the details of “Joan’s Secret Waterfall Hike” — also in Castle Crags.

  2. I went on the hike to Burstarse Falls on May 1st and it was WONDEROUS!!! I would like to thank our hike leaders Joan and Barry – they did a fine job. Thank you for getting it in the paper so I knew about it – it was quite a group that turned out.

    1. Terri, I’m glad you could make it.

We’ll always have the hikes listed here on the website at least a few days before it happens.
