McCloud Waterfalls Hike on Saturday, May 22

It’s time to enjoy more of our local waterfalls before all the tourists arrive. The Mt. Shasta Trail Association invites you to join us on this easy 4-mile roundtrip river trail in the McCloud Falls area.

We will begin our hike along the McCloud River at the powerful, shooting Lower Falls, originally named Nurum-wit-ti-dekki (falls where the salmon turn back) by the native Wintu Indians. From here we will walk upstream to the impressive, cascading Middle Falls, 70 feet wide and 35 feet high.  Then on to Upper Falls and finally to the clear cold waters behind Lakin Dam.

This event is free of charge. Meet at the fish hatchery where Lake Street meets Old Stage Road in Mount Shasta (central exit) on Saturday, May 22, at 9am, and bring lunch and water. We will return about 3 pm. Further questions, Call Joan Roemer 926 0647.
