Here’s the August 2012 schedule for the Siskiyou Wanderers (reprinted with permission)
Aug 2: South Gate/Squaw Meadow Trail: One of the most scenic and interesting trails on Mt Shasta. We may do a car shuttle to make it a loop. Sorry – No dogs on this one. (Neil)
AD: 5.5 miles THE: 7900′ AEG: 1000′ PMP: Mt Shasta Fish Hatchery T: 8:30 am.
Aug 9: Big Blue Lake: We’ll hike from Taylor Lake TH to Hogan Lake and then it’s a cross-country rock scramble to Big Blue Lake. Elevation loss & gain in both directions.
AD: 8 miles THE: 6400′ AEG: 2000′ PMP: Yreka Mall T: 8:30 am.
Aug 16: Brewer Creek/Ash Creek Falls: This hike takes us up the eastern flanks of Mt Shasta through forests of white bark pine to views of glaciers and Shasta’s prettiest water fall; Ash Creek Falls. Some cross-country trail. (Suzanne & Igor)
AD: 7 miles THE: 7300′ AEG: 1000′ PMP: Hwy 97/A-12 T: 8:30 am.
Aug 23: Mill Creek & Washbasin Lake: Mill Creek is a pretty little backcountry pond often overlooked by Trinity Alps hikers. Less visited Washbasin Lake will require some cross-country. This is a good area to see gentians in bloom. (Ted)
AD: 8.5 miles THE: 5250′ AEG: 2100′ PMP: Callahan T: 8:30am
Aug 30: Fox Creek Lake Hike & Backpack Camp-out: We had so much fun with our backpacking trip last year that we are doing it again! The trail is listed as easy (once you get past that 1st .25 mile climb) and is just under 4 miles in. Day hikers may want to bring their pole or swimsuit and enjoy the afternoon at the lake. (Randy)
AD: 7.6 miles THE: 5400′ AEG: 1800 PMP: Callahan T: 8:30am
