The Mount Shasta Trail Association invites the public on a most astoundingly scenic, and moderate hike to Gray Butte on Mt Shasta Saturday, August 16th. The 3.4 round-trip trail beginning in Panther Meadow passes through old growth red fir forest, meadows and one of the finest hemlock forests in Northern California. Gaining 750 feet, the trail leads to the summit of Gray Butte, dubbed Artist’s Point in the 19th century. The views of Mt Shasta are stunning as are the expansive vistas of Northern California.
Participants will meet at 9 am at 111 Morgan Way in front of the Best Western Tree House. Bring lunch and water. Dogs are not permitted in this wilderness area. Expect to be back by 3 pm.
