The Mt. Shasta Trail Association has scheduled a hike to Burstarse Falls on Saturday, May 21.
Few folks know about Burstarse Falls, a mighty waterfall that falls in multiple cascades some 50 feet over stepped granite walls near the west side of Castle Crags State Park. In addition to solitude, this hike also offers extensive views of Castle Crags’ steep granite spires and clear, cold streams. This moderate 6.4 mile hike includes 2.5 miles on the impressive Pacific Crest Trail. Hikers will cross creeks 3 times, thus hiking poles are recommended.
The meeting place is 111 Morgan Way, the street in front of the Best Western Treehouse at 9 am on Saturday morning. Bring lunch, water, sun protection and expect to return by 4 pm. For further questions, call Joan Roemer at 926-0647.
