If you’ve never been to Mossbrae Falls, you should go.  It is arguably the most breathtaking natural wonder in all of Siskiyou County.  The access trail, however, runs along a railroad track which is somewhat dangerous (and not very scenic), and has resulted in a few injuries from the train.

The Mount Shasta Trail Association has been trying to create a safe access trail through the adjacent St. Germain property for about twenty years, without success.  Therefore, renewed efforts by Tom Hesseldenz and Joe Wirth have resulted in the real possibility of a trail through the Hedge Creek Falls area, across the Sacramento River via a pedestrian bridge, and along the river below the RR tracks.  We hope to partner with Union Pacific Railroad and the City of Dunsmuir to accomplish this.  Further, an anonymous donor has contributed $250,000 toward this project!

The MSTA is very excited about these developments, and we’ll bring you more information as it arises.
