When we finished cleaning up the illegal dumpsites in the forest on Tuesday, a number of the zany volunteers asked when we could do it again. Since then, even more nutty people contacted me to say they wished they could have helped and wanted notification of the next project. So…
There are some abandoned campsites right here in the city which have been on our cleanup list for about a month. There are very few large objects to remove, so it will just be gathering up clothes, garbage, carpet, wood, and cardboard. The location is east of Cross Petroleum and south of the Crystal Geyser plant, near the RR tracks. WE WILL ATTACK THIS MESS ON WEDNESDAY, DEC. 13 AT 9 AM.
Now, you might ask why at 9 am, and why this location, near Crystal Geyser property and out of nearly everyone’s view. Well, it’s 9 am because the guy with the heavy equipment is available then. And it is near CG property, but not on it, so it’s not their responsibility. And, we’re hoping to turn that RR track into a trail some day in the future, so let’s get it cleaned up now. Finally, CG is providing more security in the area, so new encampments will be harder to establish.
WE WILL MEET AT 9 AM ON WED. JUST NORTH OF THE CROSS PETROLEUM BUILDING AND JUST SOUTH OF M AND T LUMBER, ON N. MT. SHASTA BLVD.
We need some wheelbarrows and a few rakes. We’ll bring trash bags. The weather is supposed to be OK. We can finish this in an hour with enough volunteers.
SEE YOU THERE, YOU CIVIC-MINDED DUDLEY DO-RIGHTS!
