The Mt. Shasta Trail Association (MSTA) is supported financially by membership dues, contributions from local businesses and grants from various government and private sources. An example of local business support is Mt. Shasta Products, which sells Mt. Shasta Chocolate Bars and contributes all of the profits for hiking trails in Northern California. This includes the MSTA, which uses its funds primarily for planning, designing and constructing hiking trails in the area around Mt. Shasta.
The MSTA also operates by collaborating with other organizations such as the U.S. Forest Service, Siskiyou County Department of Public Works, Mt. Shasta Rotary Club, Mountain Runners and the Pacific Crest Trail Association.
