The Bear Trail at College of the Siskiyous in Weed may be one of the easier trails on the FREE 2026 Mount Shasta Trail Challenge but it’s perfect for these hotter days as it stays mostly in the trees. This trail is mostly for walkers and is perfect if you are just getting started on hiking.
Pretty flat as it loops around the campus. Beautiful trees, manzanita and incredible views of Mount Shasta. Seriously, this is a beautiful college campus!
The trail does have some minimal storm damage that the college has roped off but you can just walk around it. There is also some construction on their new dormitories so pay attention to parking signage.
